Six-year-old Elena receives a sweet little tomcat for her birthday. He is 4 months old. She names him Miko. When her dad takes Miko to a cat hotel, Elena becomes very sad. She begs her dad to bring him back because she can feel how unhappy he is there. For Elena can hear the hearts of people and animals. Children are still connected and have the natural ability to feel other hearts. This profound empathy and emotional intelligence is something wonderful, which adults have mostly forgotten. We operate on the mental plane. In this story, 6-year-old Elena reminds her father that he, too, can hear hearts, and that this is the only path to joy and happiness.
