Adventures of Count Pickula: First day at school

This fun tale starts with cucumber kid Count Pickula waking up on his first day of school. Naturally he is a bit nervous and apprehensive, but after a hearty breakfast and reassurances from his loving mother and father, Pickula heads off for class.

Each page is accompanied by a charming color illustration that helps make the story clear and interesting for young readers and listeners. This book is ideal for reading to children as young as 3 while being an easy reader for many children in Primary Grades up to age 8 and beyond.

Pickula learns school is a lot of fun. He loves all the new facts he's learning about plants and poems. But he is still apprehensive about meeting new friends.

Unfortunately everyone at lunch sits with their own friends leaving Pickula sitting alone. That's when a nearby flower calls out "Hey Kid" to Pickula. The plant points out a red haired boy who also doesn't have friends. The boy is crying after being bullied by other kids. Pickula defends the child telling the others bullying is wrong.

Still, the bullies persist and it looks like Pickula's first day at school may not end well. That's when the Principle's beautiful daughter Horseradish intervenes and saves the day.

This book immediately interests children who identify with the challenges of starting at a new school. It's filled with fun characters, interesting action, and lots of positive messages. Parents and grandparents can feel good about sharing The Adventures of Count Pickula with both boys and girls. Don't be surprised if kids want to hear the story again and again.

It makes an ideal gift for birthday and Christmas. Many people buy several to share with friends. It's selling fast after being recommended by teachers.
