As a Mountain man, Eric’s life has been an endless feud between his people and the Town folks. Lately, the conflict has grown deadlier with higher stakes as they are pushed back further into the wilderness. Then a car accident sends Claire into his life. Claire, a city woman, is unlike any he’s met before. Beneath her injuries, she’s as beautiful as Eric is ugly, and he’s afraid to show her his face lest she flees in terror. 

He keeps telling himself he’s keeping her safe and that once she leaves West Virginia, his desire for her will cease. Deep inside, Eric knows he’s lying to himself. He can’t let this woman go. Will she accept the monster he appears to be, or will his fears of her rejection come true?
